Handle orders from your tablets

How customers order on your venue's tablets, how the order reaches your dashboard and what to do if something goes wrong.

A tablet order doesn't go through WhatsApp: the customer places it at the table and it goes straight to Orders. Here's how it works for the customer and your team, and how to fix the most common messages.

What your customer does

  1. Picks their dishes

The tablet shows your menu with large photos and the line Order from your table. The customer taps a dish, picks options and taps Add.

  2. Reviews the order

They open View my order and tap Continue.

  3. Adds the details

In Review and place your order they can enter their Table number or name (optional), choose a payment method if you ask for one, and add Order notes.

  4. Places the order

They tap Place order and see We got your order! with the reference, table and total. After two minutes the tablet returns to the menu, or sooner if they tap New order.

Tablet orders are always dine-in and for right now: no delivery, coupons or scheduled orders. They do follow your pause, opening hours, category hours and minimum order.

What your team sees

The order arrives in Orders as Awaiting confirmation, with the Tablet badge. Instead of a name and phone number it shows the table, for example Table 4 (or No table), and the tablet's name. In the details you'll see Table and source and, if the tablet asked for one, the customer's payment preference. Confirm it and move it along like any other order; see how to handle your orders.

Ready for the next guest

  • While the order has items, Start over appears at the top. Once confirmed, it clears the items, table and notes.
  • If nobody touches the tablet for 3 minutes with an unfinished order, it asks Are you still there? and counts down 30 seconds. I'm still here or any touch keeps the order; otherwise it's cleared for the next guest.
  • If the connection drops while sending, the tablet keeps the attempt and marks it Unconfirmed attempt. Sending it again unchanged won't duplicate the order.

If something goes wrong

  • This tablet isn't paired. Ask the staff to pair it. It was unpaired, or it went 180 days without use. Pair it again from Tablet Mode.
  • Tablet Mode is off. Someone turned off Tablet Mode. Turn it on and pair the tablets again.
  • This tablet's date and time are wrong… or This order attempt has expired…. Fix the date and time in the tablet's settings and try again.
  • We are currently closed… or Orders are paused…. The restaurant is closed or paused; check your hours and pause.
  • A message saying a dish isn't available right now: its category is closed, so it has to be removed from the order.
  • A message showing the minimum order: the order doesn't reach the minimum you set.
