Turn on Tablet Mode and pair your tablets
Put tablets in your venue so customers can order from their table: turn them on, pair them and unpair them when needed.
With Tablet Mode, customers order from their table on a tablet in your venue. They see your menu with large photos, don't have to give their name or phone number, and the order goes straight to your dashboard, without WhatsApp. Only Owners and Administrators can set it up.
Turn on Tablet Mode

Switch on Turn on Tablet Mode. If you'd like customers to pick one of your payment methods when they order, also switch on Ask for the payment method. It's only a preference: nothing is charged on the tablet.
Pair a tablet
- Give it a name
Under Pair a tablet, enter a name such as Patio tablet. It's optional; if you leave it blank, it's named Tableta 1, Tableta 2 and so on.
- Create the code
Tap Create pairing code. You'll see an 8-character code, like K7QM-2XRP, and a QR code. Each code pairs one tablet and expires in 10 minutes.
- Open the menu on the tablet
Scan the QR code with the tablet's camera, or open the address shown in the dashboard in the tablet's browser, such as zimtig.com/your-restaurant/tablet.
- Enter the code if you didn't scan
On Pair this tablet, enter the code in Pairing code and tap Pair tablet. Capitals, spaces and the hyphen don't matter.
- Ready to order
The dashboard shows Tablet paired. It can take orders now. and the tablet switches to your menu.
Limits
- You can have up to 50 tablets paired at once.
- A tablet that isn't used for 180 days has to be paired again. As long as it's in use, it stays paired.
- A tablet's name can't be changed later. To rename it, unpair it and pair it again.
- Staff members don't see this section, but they do handle tablet orders in Orders.
Unpair a tablet
Paired tablets lists each tablet with the date it was paired and when it was last used. If one is lost or no longer needed, tap Unpair, then Confirm. It stops being able to send orders right away and returns to the pairing screen.
Turn off Tablet Mode
If you switch off Turn on Tablet Mode while tablets are paired, the dashboard asks you to confirm with Turn off and unpair. The tablets will then show Tablet Mode is off.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to install an app?
No. The tablet uses its web browser; it just needs an internet connection.
What should I do if a tablet is lost or stolen?
Unpair it under Paired tablets. It won't be able to send any more orders.
Can the tablet take delivery orders or coupons?
No. It only takes dine-in orders for right now, without coupons or scheduling. See how tablet orders work.
